Itinerary

Day 1Colombo - Vavuniya - Jaffna

The Bus will be parked at the main bus stop located in the seaside (Opposite Taj Samudra Hotel Galle Road Entrance) of Galle face green Colombo from 05.30 hrs.

The journey will be started to Jaffna sharp at 06:00 hrs.

Bus will stop at “The Grand Wennappuwa” 08:00hrs for breakfast and drive toward to Jaffna at 8.45hrs.

Next stop at Vavuniya – For Lunch at Oviya Restaurant

❖     Murugandi Temple

Coach will stop for 15 minutes for worship “Lord Ganesh”

❖     Iranaimadu Tank

We will take you to view the giant tank in Killinochchi, Catchment area 587Km2 and water volume 106500 acre.ft. Main water supply to northern place take from this tank.

By 1700Hrs check in at the hotel

Dinner and overnight stay at Valampuri hotel, Jaffna

Day 2Delft Island - Nagadeepa Island

Have early Breakfast at the hotel around 07:00hrs

Vehicle leave at 0730Hrs:

❖     DELFT ISLAND

Travel by bus from Jaffna over the Mandaitivu, Kayts and Punkudutivu islands to the Kurikattuwan Jetty(33kms – 1 hour) then travel by boat to Delft Island (1 hour):

Tour around Delft Island by local bus – Simple bus which we have used during 1990s

❖     QUEENS TOWER at Delft Island

This uniquely shaped 55 foot tall tower was used to help ships navigate at night. A fire would be lit at the base of the tower which would be then reflected up its spire.

❖     THE GROWING STONE  at Delft Island

The origin story of this stone has been lost in time. However the local village elders claim that they witnessed this stone grow over the years.

❖     BAOBAB TREE at Delft Island

These unique trees have been planted in 34 locations across the Northern Province, one of which being, the Delft Island.

       ❖HANUMAN’S FOOTPRINT at Delft Island

Legend says that lord Hanuman left his footprint here during his journey from India to Sri Lanka whilst carrying part of the Himalayan mountain range on his back to save Lord Lakshmanan who was gravely injured at the time.

  • DELFT DUTCH FORT

Ralp Henry Bassett describes this fort in detail in his book “Ramonatic Ceylon”: History, legend and story. 
Lunch at Delft Samudra Hotel at Delft. In the afternoon, transfer by boat to Nagadeepa Island.

❖     Visit NAGADEEPA VIHARA

Lord Buddha is said to have visited Nagadeepa Island to settle a dispute between two kings, Chulodara and Mahedra, over a gem-studded throne.

  • NAGAPOOSHANI AMMAN KOVIL

This is the only shrine in Sri Lanka to be mentioned in Shathism. (The Shakti Peethas are places of worship consecrated to the Goddess Shakti, Parvati, Dakshayani, or Durga, the female principal of Hinduism and the main deity of the Shakta sect. They are sprinkled throughout the Indian subcontinent. Shakti is the goddess of power and is the complete incarnation of Adi Parashakti

Return to the Kurikattuwan Jetty of Punkudutivu by boat and proceed to Jaffna Peninsula.  (See the Jaffna Fort and Jaffna Library)

Return to hotel and you are free to do shopping on your own in the City.  (Also can visit to RIO Ice Cream Palour)

Dinner & Overnight stay at “Valampuri Hotel” Jaffna.

Day 3Jaffna - Colombo

Breakfast at 07:30hrs at the hotel and checkout.

  • NALLUR KOVIL

This temple plays host to “Nallur Festival” which is one of the most popular festivals in the country. People can worship “Lord Skanda”. All gents must remove the Shirts and walk inside the temple. 

❖     DAMBAKOLA PATUNA TEMPLE

This is the location where Sangamitta thero landed in Sri Lanka with sacred Bo Sapling from the Tree in India, under which lord Buddha attained Enlighten. 

❖     KEERIMALI TEMPLE & POND

First visit to pond, Local people believed that these water springs have healing properties and cure illness.

NAGULESWARAM TEMPLE: Visitors can still see the ancient temples crowning glory, the Gopuram which itself is incredibly beautiful and rustic.

POINT PEDRO & POINT PEDRO LIGHTHOUSE

Point Pedro is a town, located in Jaffna District, Sri Lanka, at the northernmost point of the island. Cotton is produced around Point Pedro in the fertile calcic red latosol soil.

Lighthouse is situated in Northernmost of Sri Lanka facing the Bay of Bengal. The lighthouse itself was built by the British in 1916 and stands 105 feet tall.

Lunch at local restaurant and then drive to Colombo

We will stop for Tea snacks at Anuradhapura and then drive to Colombo. Reaching to Colombo by 2200Hrs.
