The design of Vil Uyana is inspired from local and rural traditions. The ancient practice was to have centered water bodies in the from of parklands and woodlands for leisure. This is the first hotel in Sri Lanka to construct a wetland system with lakes and reed beds.

Sunela Jayawardena, the architect has created three tastefully designed environments to choose from. There are dwellings built over vast paddy fields. The paddy was re-grown using traditional methods of farming and harvesting, proving a new and exciting feature to this novel concept, thereby giving you a unique opportunity of participating in both the farming and harvesting during the season.

The Jala Mandapa's(Water Dwellings) are build over water. The rooms are connected by wooden walkways, or you could take a boat within the parameters of the reserve.Vana Avasa(Forest welling) are built in the privacy and seclusion. Dine in the privacy of your dwellings or under the stars or simply relax and pamper yourself at the Island spa and ayurveda, or for the more active, spend sometime at the gymnasium.

Long walks or day excursions to nearby attractions like Sigiriya,Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapuraya,Inamaluwa Wewa,Dambulla temple, the Elephant gathering at Minneriya National Park etc are also available.

The eco system at Vil Uyana will be subjected to continuos monitoring by our in-house research facility, which will include a team of naturalists and horticulturists. The facility will also be equipped with an extensive library, a room fro laboratory-based work and a computer room.
