What to Expect

  • You are requested to wear appropriate cloths when entering many temples including temples in Anuradhapura and tooth relic in Kandy. If you are wearing sleeveless and shorts make sure to take extra scarf or cloth with you to wear when visiting temples.
  • Photography might not allow in the temples and monuments.
  • Sri Lankan foods are hot and spicy.
  • As you cover many district in this tour, depend on your time of travel you might find rain in some areas.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Upon arrival, when you leave the airport terminal please look for your tour guide displaying a signboard with your name. Transfer to your hotel in Negombo . Spend the rest of the leisurely at your hotel.

Day 2Colombo - Anuradhapura

Let’s start your tour with Sri Lanka’s first capital Anuradhapura, now the capital of north central province. This scenic, peaceful countryside where massive stupas and dagobas jutted out in the distance will bring the surreal experience to your tour. most sightseeing in Anuradhapura concerns archeological sites and exquisite masonry . so you will visit Sri Maha Bodhi tree, Ruwanweliseya stupa, Abhayagiriya monastery, jethawanaramaya, lowamahapaya, thuparamaya, isurumuniya, Samadhi Buddha statue and Awkana Buddha statue.

Day 3Anuradhapura - Habarana

Today you will leave for another cultural – rich city, Habarana. 
The city considered as a convenient base to the main attractions such as national parks and many UNESCO World heritage sites. 
Once reach Habarana, you will set off to visit the world famous 5th Century Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of the island’s most awe-inspiring archaeological attractions. The fortress stands alone in the middle of jungle also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress.  On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool.

Day 4Habarana - Polonnaruwa - Habarana

Today you will get to explore the second capital of sri Lanka,Polonnaruwa ,where you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, temples and splendid statues of the Buddha. Many archeological sites here like Lankathilakaya and gal viharaya will take you to the glory days of Sri Lanka’s history.
Once completed you will drive back to Habarana and have authentic homemade Srilankan lunch at a village house.
The evening is reserved for wildlife. So, you will take a private 4×4 jeep safari in Minneriya national park. The park is well famous among elephant lovers as Large numbers of elephants are attracted to grass fields on the edges of the reservoir during the dry season. Elephants gathered here is numbering around 150-200.

Day 5Habarana - Kandy

After breakfast you will be collected to go to the yet another marvelous city- Kandy where Sri Lanka’s most sacred attraction, the temple of tooth relic situated. 
En-route visit Dambulla Golden cave temple, a wealth of UNESCO World heritage site’s history goes back to 1st century BC.  This complex of five cave’s walls and ceilings are covered with beautiful ancient Buddhist paintings, one of the largest extents of cave paintings found in the world. 
Followed by a fabulous trip to Knuckles range which is a truly experience of the natural beauty of the hill country. Handy your camera for incredible views and It’s an ideal trail to do bird watching as well. This wonderful range covers almost every forest type found in Sri Lanka at elevations ranging between 250 and 4,000 feet.
Stop atSpice Garden at Mataleand see the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamoms, Pepper plants etc. You can also purchase your requirements of spices. Enjoy authentic – Sri Lankan cuisine made out of best of Sri Lankan spices .

Day 6In Kandy

Today you will get the chance to visit the royal garden of early Sri Lanka. Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya is the Sri Lankan’s largest and finest garden. Originally established as a pleasure garden for Kandyan nobility, the British transformed it into botanical gardens in 1821, laying the foundations for what it has become today. 
The city has lot to witness, so you will be going around and exploring the city, while gathering great experience to your journey.
In the evening visit the temple of tooth Relic ‘ Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. Take a tour around the picturesque lakeside city, and witness the majesty of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka.
When the sun is setting, it is the time to enjoy a unique cultural show, the best opportunity to witness the greatness of country’s rich tradition and culture.  

Day 7Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Today you are going to have a one of the best memories of Sri Lankan tour. We will take you to Peradeniya railway station. From there board on to have a scenic train ride to Nanu Oya. Enjoy the breathtaking view of mist-draped tea plantations and water falls, rolling mountains, clouds . it is all add to the picture perfect movie playing out in front of you.  
You will be collected from Nanu Oya railway station and transfer to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Evening is perfect to enjoy Hi-Tea at Grand hotel and then walk along Gregory’s lake.

Day 8Nuwara Eliya

Start early to drive through the early morning mist to Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka’s highest plateau. This is a world apart from the rest of Sri Lanka, a landscape with a unique climate and ecosystem. The circular walk in Horton Plains National Park will take you to the spectacular World’s End – a sheer drop of nearly 1,000 metres into the valley below, as well as to a view of the picturesque Baker’s Waterfalls.
In the afternoon, relax back at your hotel or enjoy a walk through the tea plantations

Day 9Nuwara Eliya - Udawalawe

Today is the day you get chance to witness famous attractions among many tourists to Sri Lanka. So, you will be driven to Ella and visit 9 arches bridge, little Adam’s peak, Lipton’s seat and few waterfalls.
Then you will be driven east to the elephant-rich Udawalawe National Park, a journey of around two hours.

Day 10Udawalawe

Morning at leisure.

You will proceed with the game drive at Udawalawe park in the afternoon. Udawalawe is a scenic park and is well known for its great elephant and raptor sightings. The park is also home to the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Camp, which rescues orphaned elephants from around the country and rehabilitates them into the wild of the national park. At midday you will head to the Transit Camp to observe the orphaned elephant calves being bottle fed by their carers. You cannot interact directly with the animals, as they are being kept as wild as possible to enhance the chances of a successful release later on, but watching the young animals wrestling with the milk funnels is a great sight.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 11Udawalawe - Bentota

Today you will head towards the coast to the beach area near Bentota.

Day 12Bentota - Galle - Bentota

Late morning drive to Galle and enjoy a walking tour of the walled city of Galle, once the chief port of Ceylon. Influences of the Portuguese, Dutch and British can be found in the architecture and fortifications of the city. The area is well known for its handmade lace.
